About
The Marr Residence is a cherished historical landmark in Saskatoon, known for being the oldest building in the city that remains on its original site. Constructed in 1884 by Sandy Marr, this house played a significant role during the 1885 Riel Rebellion, serving as a field hospital. In recognition of its historical value, the City of Saskatoon acquired the property and designated it as a municipal heritage site in 1982. The Marr Residence is managed by a City-appointed Management Board, which ensures the preservation and enhancement of the site’s historical integrity, facilitates public access, and develops programs to raise awareness of Saskatoon’s heritage.
