Plan your own Curbside Swap for your household or your neighbourhood this summer! You can also join in the city-wide Curbside Swap on September 10, 2016. Just place unwanted items on your property and marking them as “FREE”, and by searching for new stuff. At the end of your swap day, return your unclaimed items to your home.
Curbside Swaps provide opportunities for someone else to use your unwanted items, keeping them out of our landfill.
Guidelines:
-Clearly mark all items that you wish to swap as “FREE” and remove any items you wish to keep from your property
-Do not block roads/sidewalks with items
-Obey all traffic laws and watch for children
-Do not drive/walk on the lawns of others
-Do not discard items on someone else’s lawn/curb
Acceptable items:
-Appliances
-Bicycles
-Tools
-Furniture
-Books/movies/CDs/DVDs
-Kitchen utensils
-Building material
-Computers and electronics
-Yard and garden equipment
-Clothes
-Usable paint
-Sporting goods
-Musical instruments
-Plants, potted trees, etc.
-Other durable goods
Unacceptable items:
-Garbage or recyclables
-Chemicals of any kind
-Weapons of any kind
-Food items
-Mattresses
-Dangerous/illegal items
-Car/booster seats
-Baby gates and walkers
-Cribs/cradles

What to do with items not collected during the swap:
-Donate them to a charity
-Give them to a local thrift store
-Post them on a free classifieds website, such as Kijiji
-Visit the Saskatchewan Waste Reduction Council’s recycling database to find out if any of your unwanted items can be recycled in Saskatoon
