Membership & Fees:

A yearly membership of $10 per family is required to participate in programs.  NCA honours other community Association memberships.

Payment information:

Credit Card: You can pay with your credit card on our registration website. It is a secure site.

Cheque: There will be no additional charge for using a cheque. Cheques can either be dropped off at registration night, or they can be mailed to, or dropped-off at the address listed on the payment page when you register. The address will also be included in your confirmation email.

If your program has a waitlist we will not be able to hold your spot indefinitely while we await your cheque.

Cash: Will only be accepted at the in-person registration night. Please do not mail cash.

Cost as Barrier:

In an effort to ensure that all Nutana residents who want to participate in a program are able to, NCA offers cost-as-a-barrier assistance to those facing financial hardship.

Course Descriptions

Agents of Change
Agents of Change provides youth with a chance to practice their leadership and group work skills in a comfortable setting while having fun.  Activities are interactive and follow the themes of diversity, human rights, conflict and resolution and sustainable development. Youth will do activities that build attitudes, skills and knowledge on how to make a more just and peaceful world. Activities could be active, creative, cooperative, role playing, or discussion based.

Using a variety of drawing mediums, children will experience beginner techniques

Basics of Botany

Interested in learning how to grow your own food? The Nutana Community Association is proud to present its ‘Basics of Botany’ program, generously led by University of Saskatchewan faculty and staff in the Winter/Spring of 2017. Whether you’re working with a large outdoor garden, raised planters or an apartment windowsill. This program is catered to those with all levels of knowledge who want to improve their experience growing produce in the Saskatchewan climate. The weekly lecture series will cover a range of subject, including soil conditions, plant types, care strategies and more. All ages and skill levels are welcome to take advantage of this great opportunity.

Drop-In Badminton

Recreational badminton, doubles format – instruction is not provided, however many players are willing to provide guidance and tips for improvement. Players are expected to set up and take down nets each night, and best to bring your own equipment, although there are some racquets available for those who don’t own one, and shuttles are provided.

Exercise with Osteoporosis
Exercising with osteoporosis can be a challenge but improving balance, posture, and muscle strength is essential to help us cope with it.  This gentle class will provide safe and effective exercises to do just that.  Your instructor, Laureen, is a yoga and fitness instructor who is also “BoneFit” trained through Osteoporosis Canada.  Although this is not a yoga class, please bring a yoga mat if you have one.   If you are unable to get down to the floor for mat exercises, a chair will be provided.

Family Hoop Night
A family friendly class that consists of exercise, coordination, rhythm and fun! This class is a perfect fit for any family. From babe’s to grandparents, the hula-hoop can be a high or low impact tool.

Gramma Drama

Join Sum Theatre (Nutana’s Artists in Residence) for fun filled drama exercises.Learn theatre tools to inspire confidence, creativity and a sense of play. Bring your grandparent (or grandchild) or come alone and make new friends! This intergenerational drama jam is guaranteed to be full of laugher.

Jazzercise

Burn up to 600 calories in one fun and powerfully effective 60-minute total body workout. Combines dance-based cardio with strength training, stretching to sculpt, tone and lengthen muscles for maximum fat burn. Jazzercise is a fusion of jazz dance, resistance training, yoga, and kickboxing. Please bring own mat, and light hand weights if you wish.

Juggling

Weekly workshops where participants learn theory and skills of various circus arts: juggling, diabolo, poi, spinning plates and flower sticks. NCA membership fee is all that is required for this drop in class. Postnatal Yoga with Baby (0-8 mos)

Great for any mom, dad, or caregiver wanting to learn yoga postures to gain muscle tone and strength and to ease strain from caring for your baby and carrying all the gear that comes with them. This class allows you to come to yoga and spend time with baby in a fun, relaxed, and supportive environment.

Recreational Soccer

Instructor-led soccer skills development classes. Scrimmages typically held at end of each session, once basic skills are established. Two classes to be offered, ages 3-4 and ages 5-7.

Yoga Fit

Yogafit is a “flow” style of yoga aimed at people who want to improve their fitness levels. Participants move through sequences of poses that include lunges, squats and planks to build greater strength, increase flexibility and improve balance. The class ends with deep stretching poses that allow the body to relax.

Yoga for Runners and Others

Focuses on developing core strength through a series of poses that build in intensity. Sequences will build flexibility through hips and legs and will develop upper body strength. Please bring your own mat.

Zumba/Jazzercise Combined

For those of you who want to stay fit but can’t always make it to Monday night’s sizzling Zumba or Wednesday night’s come back class, Jazzercise, go for the reduced rate and enroll in both. Come one night one week, or two nights one week – your fitness schedule is now a little more manageable! Please note specific program dates that Zumba & Jazzercise classes run.
